Ok, so Midtown might be the single most unsexy neighborhood on the island but it does serve a purpose, an important one. No, not because it’s where your job/income generating activities are based.
It’s important because it’s where you go for after work cocktails with your Office Crush (OC).
Let’s Be Honest: Don’t play coy, I know you have one. And what better day than today to move this flirtation outside of the office? So get a group together, invite the OC and see where the night takes you.
….And I suggest it take you to these great spots. After that, it’s up to you to work some magic (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).
If you’re Cool & Casual:
BXL Belgian Cafe
125 W 43rd St(b/w 6th & Broadway)

A part of the Morgans Hotel Group, so obviously it thinks itself the pinnacle of hipness (which can be obnoxious), but it’s still good for some champs and truffled popcorn.
If you’re Classic & Intellectual:
The Algonquin Hotel lobby bar (not Blue Bar)
59 West 44th Street (b/w 5th & 6th)

Known best for it’s literary Round Table of days long ago and Dorothy Parker’s infamous “Vicious Circle”, the “Gonk” is still favored by arty intellectuals in need of a dry martini.
Oh By The Way: If you’ve had all those cocktails (sure, why not make it a pub crawl?), you’ll need food. Let’s hope the rest of the group has peeled off and it’s just you and your obsesh left to your own devices.
Kellari Taverna: Great, high-quality, non-kitschy Greek food. Scores high points from my Greek cousin and has the best feta I’ve ever tasted.
19 West 44th Street (b/w 5th & 6th)

Accessorize: You’ll need something to play footsie in and you’re likely sporting a ballet flat or flips today, so sex it up with a quick stop at Ann Taylor at the corner of Madison & 43rd.
