I would love to stock up on various hosiery items for Christmas (all Wolford would be a dream), but those are not the real stockings of the season, not the ones that get hung by the chimmney with care.
When celebrating Christmas with my family, I still use the same stocking I’ve used all my life. (Or, I should say, Santa still uses the same stocking.) But a destination Christmas vacation, mothers who’ve gone on a feng shui cleaning kick or celebrating the holiday with the new in-laws may result in the need for a new stocking.
But no one wants a stocking that ‘looks’ new; we want an old, comfy one that reminds us of the excitement childhood. Thankfully the elves at Etsy have been hard at work…
The collection by LulaJaneCreations is the most vintage, reminding me of my father’s original childhood stocking from the 1950s. (Which was still in use almost sixty years later, until one of the dogs decided it worked better as a chew toy.)
Though, when pressed to buy a replacement stocking, some of us will want to venture away from traditional, and find something that represents our personality now.
