Mary and I met so many entrepreneurs at the RISE conference in Austin and as we mentioned in our recap post, we met one woman entrepreneur, or shall we say inventor, that really peaked our interest. Allison Schickel has created the Brobe – part bra, and part robe.
The idea came from a simple want for a front open, easy, functional support system within a robe and has lead to the creation of a robe that’s not only comfortable, supportive and chic, but also now fully equipped to be the perfect post-op piece for women who have to undergo a mastectomy. The front open brad has inside pockets for ice packs or prosthetics and there are also inside pockets just below the waist line to host those pesky post-op tubes.
What all of this means? Finally women can feel great while they are healing as well as look great (goodbye paper hospital gowns). Even Susan G. Komen thinks so, as the Austin affiliate has come on in full support and 10% of every Brobe sold is given back to them for breast cancer research. So, what else can we say to Allison, but job well done! Now it’s time we get up, get out and support this new endeavor…
Oh, By The Way: If you are in Austin make sure not to miss the mother-daughter lunch and Brobe launch party on Saturday, May 12, 11 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Malaga Tapas Bar. Get your tickets here.
Let’s Be Honest: It’s a genius idea…go out and support it!
Accessorize: Allison and the Brobe are finalists in the “Next Big Thing” contest hosted by the Dallas Market Center.
