What: Pre-game tailgate in Oxford, MS before the Ole Miss v Texas A&M game.
Why: They were getting together because one family member is a die-hard Aggie and the other is a post-doc candidate at Ole Miss, and I joined in because I can’t miss a celebration, any celebration, especially of the college football variety.
Oh, by the way: A cold front and heavy rains threathened to dampen the revelry, but were no match for the die-hard tailgaters.
Let’s be honest: Those Ole Miss college girls braved the elements with impunity and survived mud pits that rival those of Glastonbury, rocking strappy sandals, platform stilettos and open-toed wedges from the beginning of the tailgate (noon?) to the last call of the game at 10pm. More power to them. While I–way older and slightly wiser–opted for the wellies above, a fun find at the local Wal-Mart, to keep my toes toasty and dry.
